Sydney Running Festival
The Sydney Running Festival is being held on Saturday September 21. Challenge yourself to the marathon, half marathon, or 9km bridge run.
Running: How much is too much?
Runner's World asks: Will running too much kill you? That's a bit over the top but this is an interesting article about where our thresholds actually lie. Moderation, it seems, is the key to getting the most health benefits from our favourite athletic activity.
City to Surf
Sydney's famous City to Surf is on Sunday August 14. We are organising a bus to the event.
The bus will depart Bradbury Oval at 5:45am before dropping off participants at Hyde Park and then our support crew to Bondi Beach.
Lunch will be provided at Bondi before the bus departs at 2pm back to Bradbury.
Cost is $30 for members and $40 for non-members. As this is always a popular event, your seat on the bus will only be confirmed once payment is received. Our preferred method of payment is via EFT to the CJC account. Details: IMB, BSB 641800 and a/c 028108438.
7th Annual Parkinson's NSW Unity Walk & Run
Registrations are now open for the Parkinson's NSW Unity Walk & Run event at Sydney Olympic Park on Sunday August 31.
There is a 4km walk (or a short course if you prefer) as well as 4km and 8km runs and an 8km wheelchair race.
The male and female winners of the 8km run will each win an incredible 7 night holiday in Fiji.
For more information, visit the Unity Walk & Run website.
Park Run Campbelltown
Parkrun Campbelltown is held every Saturday morning at Raby Oval at 7am. It's a great 5km course that is suitable for runners of all levels. It's also free! Click on this link for more info.
North Face 100
Congratulations Sonia McDermott, Steve Bowers, Justin Miller and Todd Muller for completing the grueling North Face 100 solo ultra marathon this year. Everyone ran a PB. Sonia smashed it in 12:22:30, the 6th female, 1st in her age group and 42nd overall.
Dirk Streekferk also completed the 50km solo event, placing 36th overall.
104-year-old man runs 100 metres
Will this be club member and 60+ marathon and ultra marathon specialist Denis Sharrock when he's 104? Stanislaw Kowalski from Poland is the fastest European aged more than 100 years to run 100 metres. Click here for the story.
A marathon in North Korea
No, this is not a joke. A marathon in the North Korean capital of Pyongyang is now open to foreigners. Click here to read about it.

Congratulations to all CJC members who completed events at the Australian Running Festival in Canberra on April 12 and 13.
A special mention to Michael Pickford who completed the marathon in a cracking time of 2:57:48, placing 20th!
