2023 Alan Holt Memorial 10 Mile Handicap Stuns the Record Books

Published Thu 03 Aug 2023

Our recent annual 10 Mile Handicap event last Sunday the 30th of July was held in ideal conditions, cool, sunny with no wind.  And that was the perfect setting for two stunning results.  Besides our deserved handicap place getters:

  • 1st place Paul Rodgers,
  • 2nd place Sue Powell,
  • 3rd place Peter Clapham,

the day saw BOTH course records broken.  This is even more remarkable given they have stood unchallenged for over 20 years!

Storming home in the fastest ever male time of 53:34 was David Baker, finishing 4th in handicap position and eclipsing the standing record held for 29 years (July, 1994) by Philip Austen, (54:15) ironically coaching himself clean from the record books, so his legacy still holds!

Finishing in handicap position 9 and in 4th position outright for the fastest ever female time of 66:23 was Rachael Jack who nudged our World Championship Representative Julia Degan (66:39) from the records after a stint of over 20 years since June 2003!

What a remarkable day!  Congratulations to our podium finishers and to both our new record holders!
